Prehistoric cycling tours in Southwest Drenthe

If you would like to go on a cycling trip to see dolmens, burial mounds, prehistoric farms or traces of World War II, then you could join the archaeological cycling tours organised by the OERmuseum in Diever. The OERmuseum organises cycling tours on several days along the slopes of the Havelterberg and Bisschopsberg and around Lhee.

Cycling tour along the Havelterberg

With a prehistoric cycling tour you will cross a larger area than on foot. The OERmuseum regularly organises archaeological cycling tours along the slopes of the Havelterberg and Bisschopsberg. A guide from the OERmuseum will take you to the most wonderful places in these breathtakingly beautiful surroundings. The area is steeped in history, from prehistory with its dolmens and burial mounds, to the remnants of the Second World War. This cycling tour through a beautiful part of Drenthe takes about three hours.

Cycling tour around Lhee

The OERmuseum organises cycling tours along archaeological sites of interest around the village of Lhee in Drenthe. An enthusiastic guide from the museum in Diever will take you through the ancient landscape. The cycling tour takes you past an extraordinary burial monument, prehistoric farms, burial mounds, urn fields and ancient farmland. Many of the archaeological objects in the OERmuseum were found in this area. The tour is about 12 km long. This tour is not recommended for young children.

Het museum is open vanaf het paasweekend t/m de herfstvakantie. Plus de kerst- en voorjaarsvakantie. In de kerstvakantie is het museum gesloten op 25, 26 en 31 december en op 1 januari.

The OERmuseum is closed now.
From Friday  april 7 2023 our museum is open again in the afternoon from 13:30 to 17:00 hours Tuesdays to Sundays.
